The Universe Within the Palm of your Hands

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Lifespan

Have you ever wondered how, when, where and why does the universe... exist?

Maybe that's a big question which most of us ask from time to time (maybe while taking a shower...), and tend to overlook due to life's obstacles and obligations, and maybe it's a bit too theoretical for you and perhaps even too, technical.

The universe is roughly 14 billion years old according to scientists, but in our terms, us humans' insignificant life span, it is astronomically overwhelming.

Earth which revolves around the universe according is about 4.5 billion years old.

I know... right

Humans have a life span of about 70 - 80 years old, relative to that, cats and dogs, our favorite pets are up to 13 years at most, and a mayfly is considered to have the shortest lifespan of all animals, with an average of 10 to 24 hours.

Apparently, the smaller it gets, the shortest the lifespan will be... but that's just a deduction I've come to, and don't take it too seriously.

How to discover all this?

When it comes to the universe, it's usually an intriguing topic which we want to discover and visualize in a multitude of way, and video games tend to offer the greatest experience, since it is known that video games are interactive and they often are the best means of entertainment.

Many video games have tried offering this experience, of discovering the universe that is...

  • No Man's Sky:

We name the grand and fabulous, No Man's Sky. This game is an extremely fun and creative experience, where you get to discover about 18 quintillion – or 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets, yes you read that right!

Now build your spaceship, and see you somewhere within those 18 quintillion planets on the new PS5 version ;)

  • Space Engine

My personal favorite when it comes to space exploration.

This rather than being a game, is a simulation, which renders pretty much all the solar as well as the whole universe's planets and stars, black holes included too, which do actually exist in records.

I've made tons of exploration videos on this particular game, where I get to explore the infamous VY Canis Majoris and IC 1101, the largest star and galaxy respectively, ever discovered.

Visit trillions and billions of trillions of all planets and galaxies, and go find some earth-like planets as well, with plenty of options you can manipulate, for example the speed of movement around the universe, adjust time and set it to move fast forward of slow, set the actual time, view earth and the solar systems...

Conclusion

We can all agree that video games have taken a huge step into the field of science,

and have made everything more interactive and fun, so I'd like to conclude my post on a very bold statement, and that is: Video games are the best source and means of entertainment.

It is all up to you now.
